Mr Max Izakaya Richardson – Authentic Japanese Izakaya Dining & Fresh Ramen in Richardson, TX

Made reservations for a cold super bowl Sunday evening & it was a delicious experience. Here's what we ordered: Karaage - nice batter with tender inside Salmon bowl - fresh salmon, didn't eat much rice, probably should've just ordered sasimi instead Ramen - tender pork, slurpable noodles Takoyaki, mackerel, clams in sake - all these dishes hit the spot Friendly & attentive service as well.

We made a reservation and were seated even though we arrived early. Menus are on QR codes making it quick and convenient to open up. Our servers were fantastic, they were all so kind and attentive. The food is all made fresh, so although it took a little bit to come out, once it started coming, the rest came pretty fast after. All the food tasted so good - the highlights were the curry, the tonkatsu ramen, sashimi, tempura vegetables, kobe beef skewers, potato croquette. The prices were fair too since it is izakaya style so lots of small plates to share. Overall, I’m definitely coming back here!

Everyone was so nice and welcoming. We got seated almost immediately. We had multiple staff members check on us while we went through the menu. The pork belly was delicious and this was some of the best ramen I've ever had. 10/10 will be coming back.

Wow! I absolutely LOVE this restaurant!!! Not only is their food one of the best I've had in Texas since coming back from Japan but every bit of this restaurant offers the authentic Izakaya experience. From having the menu listed on the wall to fostering a casual atmosphere and offering a range of beverages and food, this place is legit! I had decided to come here after going to the location in Irving, TX, and while this spot is more formal offering a wide space with table seating, everything is nearly the same here as it is there. There is a reserved area for big party reservations and they offer physical menus as well as menus you can access with a QR code at your table. The staff was very kind and was willing to have genuine conversations with the guests they interacted with. Though our server was new, he was willing to work with us to help navigate the big menu and was quick in serving our food. I think that the biggest flex of this restaurant is their amazing quality for the variety of foods they offer and how delicious each piece is. You have the opportunity to make your meal whether that be a combination of cooked foods or raw dishes. Getting to have my Japanese curry with fresh salmon sashimi felt like a dream and honestly reminding me of my grandmother's cooking. They also offer a wide alcohol menu and I got to drink Chuhai which isn't always offered at Japanese restaurants in America. A rarity! Same with the salted squid in gut sauce as my appetizer. We came on a Tuesday evening with no reservation and were seated immediately. Our server was very friendly and really helpful in explaining the menu items. We ordered the tonkotsu ramen, curry (not pictured), agedashi tofu, and the crispy rice.

Not gonna say it’s comparable to an izakaya in Ginza, but best you can get in Dallas area, for this reasonable price range. Go here for izakaya fix, and won’t get disappointed. For fancier, there are Tei Tei and Uchiba for different occasion.
